Ingredients

flour baking powder sugar baking soda salt butter cheddar cheese jalapeño buttermilk

Start by adding cold butter to your flour and leavening agents

Use a finger snapping motion to cut the butter into the dry ingredients

It'll look like a cornmeal texture with some larger and some smaller bit of butter

Add in your diced jalapeños and lots of cheddar cheese!

Stir in your cold buttermilk

Mix until it is a loose shaggy dough

Form into a rough square on your counter. It will look too dry and loose, but it will all come together in the next step

Cut in four pieces, and stack them on top of each other. Repeat this 2 more times

Roll out and cut in rounds or squares. See all the future flaky layers?!

Brush with egg wash and bake until golden brown
