Measure out all ingredients. If any ingredients are clumpy (like cocoa powder or dry milk), sift them into a large mixing bowl. Choose only one of either whole milk powder or nonfat dry milk. DO NOT use both.
Use a whisk or a wooden spoon to thoroughly mix everything. Break up any visible clumps as you go. Transfer the mocha mix to an airtight container and store it in a cool, dry place.
Using a blender or food processor
Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender or food processor in layers to help with even mixing.
Pulse the blender or food processor several times to start combining the ingredients, then blend on a low speed for about 30 seconds until evenly combined.
Open the blender lid and check for any lumps. If needed, blend for another 10 to 15 seconds. Stir and then let the mix cool in the blender before storing, as blending can generate heat that may slightly melt sugar and cocoa powder.
Hot mocha (makes one beverage)
Spoon ¼ cup of mocha mix into very hot water or milk. Stir until the mix is completely dissolved.
Top with whipped cream if you like. Maybe grate some chocolate on top for fancy reasons. Enjoy!
Frozen Mocha Frappuccino (makes 2 beverages)
Add 2 cups of milk, 3 cups of ice, 3 tablespoons of chocolate syrup, and ¼ cup of homemade mocha mix to the jar of your blender. Blend on high, or the smoothie setting for 30 seconds.
Turn the blender off and stir. If there are more ice chunks, blend another 15 to 30 seconds. Pour into tall glasses and top with whipped cream and more chocolate syrup.
Notes
