At first it seemed silly to write a recipe as "basic" as a Yogurt Peach Parfait, but then I remember when I was first learning to put meals together for my family and my mind would go blank. Having a blog with simple recipes that help you put a delicious breakfast on the table is anything but silly. It's essential.
One of my first tasks at my first bakery job was to make dozens upon dozens of yogurt parfait to put in the grab-and-go case for customers. It was simple, and easy, and after a few dozen, I felt like a parfait expert. But you don't have to work in a bakery to make these. I wrote it all down for you.
You can make your yogurt parfait as simple as layering diced peaches over yogurt, or you can come on a journey with me as we make brown sugar peaches and spoon them over a whipped yogurt cream, and top them with crunchy honey almond granola. Your choice.

Ingredients & Substitutions
Unless it's a precise baking situation, like my brioche bread, I will rarely ask you to use only specific ingredients. Use what you have and what you prefer to eat. Here are the simple ingredients I suggest in making these peach parfaits, and a few swaps I can recommend:
- Greek yogurt and heavy cream - I use a version of this lightly sweetened creamy yogurt on my peach french toast, in my biscuit shortcakes, and as a filling in my strawberry crepes, but you can use plain yogurt, cottage cheese, or the vegan equivalent of you choice.
- Granola - I have an amazingly simple homemade granola recipe that I prefer to use, but you can replace it with store-bought granolas, your favorite cereal, a baked crisp topping (with or without the fruit), a handful of your favorite nuts, or even crumbled vanilla wafers.
- Peaches - If peaches aren't in season, you can easily make this with frozen peaches. If using canned peaches, drain them first. You can also use any fruit you want and macerate them in brown sugar, or any sweetener you prefer. You can also add your fruit au natural, with no added sweetener or flavoring. It's your parfait. Do your thing!

Instructions
This peach yogurt parfaits recipe is barely a recipe, more of a guideline, but - as always - I suggest reading all of the instructions, oohing and aahing over the pretty pictures (thank you 🥰), and then getting all of your ingredients and making something delicious.
- Start by washing and dicing 3 to 4 peaches, which should give you about 2 cups. I never peel my peaches, but you can if you'd prefer.
Step 1: In a small bowl, combine your juicy peaches with 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of honey. If you'd like, you can add ½ teaspoon of cinnamon and a pinch of grated nutmeg.
Step 2: In another bowl, use a hand mixer, or a strong arm and a whisk, to beat ½ cup of heavy cream to stiff peaks (when you lift up your beater, you see a nice peak and it holds its shape).
Step 3: In yet another bowl (I'll come over and do the dishes for you later), use your hand mixer to mix your Greek yogurt with the remaining two tablespoons of honey and a teaspoon of vanilla until smooth.
Step 4: Gently fold the whipped cream into the honey vanilla yogurt until combined.
Step 5: Use a spoon or a piping bag to place some yogurt cream in the bottom of a glass.
Step 6: Top with a spoonful of your brown sugar peaches. Repeat with another layer of yogurt and another layer of peaches.
Top with granola and a drizzle of honey and enjoy!

Expert tip: Variations
This is the epitome of an American parfait, with yogurt, fruit, and granola, but in other countries, and with other meals, parfait can mean something completely different. Here are a few ways you can parlay your parfait:
- French or Australian parfait - a typical parfait in France or Australia tends to consists of a custard, much like my simple creme anglaise, sometimes frozen, and layered with fruit.
- Japanese parfait - based in part on the French parfait, you might find ice cream or whipped cream in place of the yogurt, with a variety of toppings such as red bean paste, mochi, or even cornflakes.
- British parfait - this is also typically a frozen dessert, I'm sensing a pattern here, but can include a sorbet in place of frozen custard.
- Apple parfait - In place of the peaches, try my maple apples. Sauteed with warm spices and maple syrup, they add a Fall vibe to this parfait.
- Dessert - go crazy, use chocolate mousse or whipped cream or soft frozen custard. Top with crushed oreos, chocolate chips, or candied nuts. I mean isn't a child's dirt cup with gummy worms just a parfait at heart? Enjoy yourself!
Recipe FAQs
If it isn't peach season, or you don't have access to fresh peaches, absolutely you can, but I would recommend thawing your fruit first and patting it dry before either adding it to you parfait or macerating it.
Yes you can. You can make the macerated fruit ahead and store for up to 2 days. You can even whip your yogurt cream up to 2 days ahead. If you want, assemble them the night before and top them with granola as you serve them.
If you want to have a refreshing peach yogurt parfait to go, layer your yogurt and fruit in a mason jar and screw on your lid. Put in your tote with an ice pack. Place your granola in a separate jar, or zip top bag, and combine the two when you are ready to eat. Can be made and assembled up to 2 days ahead.
