Biscuits
Biscuits are a recipe I learned, wearing a too-big apron, sitting on a stool at my Grandma's kitchen counter. The aroma of those biscuits baking in Grandma's cast iron pan were only matched by putting a hot biscuit in my mouth for the first time. Unforgettable.
Biscuits are hallmark of Southern cooking, whether ultra flaky biscuits or rustic drop biscuits. They are delicious served with gravy, beside eggs, and with a piece of chicken fried steak nestled in their soft crumb.
It's when you start adding other flavors to your biscuits that your personality really starts to shine. You might fill your biscuits with fruit or cheese and chives or turn your biscuits into cinnamon rolls. The possibilities are endless.
I've spent most of my adult life trying to emulate the fluffy biscuits with flaky layers that I first ate in Grandma's kitchen, and I feel that I'm finally there. Join me as I continue to build my collection of the best biscuits you'll ever put in your mouth!
